The First World War Fallen

The following names are those of men who died as a result of injury or illness sustained as a result of serving during the First World War. The first 29 men listed are buried here in the General Cemetery. They either died in Sheffield, or elsewhere in England and their families arranged to have them brought back to the city. It was War Office policy that the bodies of those who were killed abroad were not repatriated. However, it meant a lot to the family to be able to mention the departed serviceman on a family grave.

If you think you recognise a name, please do get in touch with us. We would love to hear from you.
