1890 - Crime and Punishment
The Sheffield Outrages were widely reported across England
to newspaper readers who were shocked at this lawlessness.
However, in reality there were few violent crimes and very
few murders. The most common crimes were burglary, common
assault, vagrancy and drunkenness.
