Search Burial RecordsThere are 87,000 buried in the General
Cemetery, and the General Cemetery Company kept records of
every burial. They recorded the name of the person being
buried, their death and burial dates, their age, their place
of residence, and their status/occupation.

In addition we have transferred information about plot

For a more personal approach to researching
family history, a team of volunteers at the Cemetery office
will carry out the search for a small fee; at present £5.00. This
service includes a search of our paper and electronic databases, a check of the
monumental inscriptions as they were in 1977/80 and, if
required, a guided
tour to the grave site. We offer an additional service where
we can email 3 photographs of the site of interest; the
starting fee for this work is £5.

team can be contact via email :

All the original documents relating to
the running of the cemetery from 1836 to its closure in
1978/80 are lodged at the Sheffield Archives, 52 Shoreham

*Please note - We will not be
updating these online databases in the foreseeable future. A
project to put all the burial records onto a database is
nearing completion and CDs of different times periods within
the database are available through the
Sheffield Family History Society.
