Peterhead Granite

The tomb of Mary Ann Jones is made of Peterhead granite from the Northeast of Scotland. Granite is an igneous rock, which means that it was formed from molten rock that solidified when it cooled.

You can see other types of rock in the granite that the molten rock captured as it forced its way to the earth's surface.
