Weeping Ash

These weeping ash trees were very important to the original design of the cemetery. If you stand at the top of the steps in front of the Nonconformist chapel the trees frame a view over the Porter Valley.

Weeping Ash

Within the frame you can see the portico of King Edward's School (formally Wesley College), and the glasshouses of the Botanical Gardens. Wesley College was built in the same year as the cemetery and the glasshouses were constructed slightly earlier. Thus the weeping ash trees were carefully planted to enhance this lovely view.
