The Rotunda

In front of the Anglican chapel stands the Rotunda. This housed both the grave and a bronze statue of James Montgomery, who was a poet and editor of a booklet printed in Sheffield called the Iris.

The money for this large monument was raised by public subscription. It must have been a long and difficult task - the statue wasn't erected until 23 years after Montgomery's death!
